Verizon Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID RAZR Gets Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update

The Verizon DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID RAZR are two of the popular smartphones of Motorola that were initially launched with Android Gingerbread 2.3 OS which was latest updated to ICS in the mid of the year 2012. And now the company has announced the Android Jelly Bean (4.1.2) update for these models.   The latest update bears the software version 98.72.16.XT912Verizon.en.US and comes along with impressive list of features. Along with the improved features the users will also get the applications that are less branded, bug fixes and the specific apps of Motorola will be replaced with the stock Android applications.

The improved features that comes packed with the Jelly Bean update for this handset includes Google Now along with better voice search facility, improved dictionary for keyboard that comes along with word predictions, upgraded camera that can capture better picture quality, new panel of notification that features expandable notifications, new Gallery application, default browser as Chrome and WiFi Hotspot support .  One of the interesting thing about this update is that it not makes additions of the features but shredding as well. There are various applications that have been removed by Motorola and these include MOTOPRINT, Alarm, MOTOACTV, Social Location, Timer and Verizon Video on Demand. The list of removed widgets include My gallery, My Music, My MOTOCAST, Social Location, World Clock, Sticky Notes, Picture Slideshow and Weather. Some of the replacements are also done in the update like Timer and Alarm has been replaced with Google Clock, My Gallery of Motorola has been replaced with Google Gallery App and the My Music app is replaced with the Play Music App of Google. Various bugs are also fixed with this latest update from Motorola so as to provide quick functioning and better syncing. For 3G as well as 4G connectivity, improved quality of coverage and data and voice connection is provided, the sync of contact is made to appear more often,  the audio settings will be now easier to locate and the effects of Audio can be edited, faster Lock-in times of GPS and others.


Let’s have a recap of the devices for which the update has been launched. Verizon DROID RAZR MAXX running on 1.2 GHz of dual core chipset features 1GB RAM and comes along with 4.3 inches of Super AMOLED advanced touch screen that is capacitive in nature and is made up of Corning Gorilla Glass. Other features include 8GB internal memory, up to 32GB expansion of external memory, standard connectivity options, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, music player, video player, 3300 mAh battery and others. The Motorola DROID RAZR also features Corning Gorilla Glass made display that measures 4.3 inches in size and features Super AMOLED capacitive screen. Other specifications of the phone include 16GB internal memory, 1GB RAM, expansion of external memory by up to 32GB, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with LE+EDR, 8MP rear camera with 1090p video recording capabilities, dual core processor clocked at 1.2GHz , music player, HDMI Port, GPS with AGPS, compass, push email facility, video player, Li-ion 1780 mAh battery and others.

The users of DROID RAZR MAXX and DROID RAZR handset will receive the notification message regarding the update that can be then installed by them. If you have not yet received the notification you can go the Settings, About Phone, System Updates and then to Download to update their phone. Once you update your handset to the latest Android Jelly Bean OS then you cannot revert back to the ICS OS. So before making the update be sure that you want to go for it.
