System76 Bonobo Extreme Linux Gaming Laptop – Specs, Features and Price

The US hardware integrators System76 have unveiled their latest laptop, the Bonobo Extreme. According to Carl Richell, founder and CEO of System76 this all new laptop is the world’s fastest laptop that runs on Ubuntu. The laptop is an absolute delight for the gaming lovers and it actually lives up to its name, extreme. Let us have a look how.

The large 17.3 inch backlit of the display immediately grabs your attention. It is a full HD screen that makes working on the laptop an absolute delight. The base model of the laptop is powered by an Intel quad core 2.4 GHz i7 3630QM processor that can be upgraded to a 3.00GHz i7-3940XM Extreme processor by paying another $530.

One thing that will allure the gamers towards the extreme is the dedicated NVidia GeForce GTX 670MX with 3GB of DDR5 RAM and 960 CUDA Cores included in the base model. If that doesn’t excite you enough then you can upgrade it to a GeForce GTX 680M with 4GB of DDR5 memory and 1344 CUDA cores by paying $134 extra. The keyboard is also backlit that makes working on the laptop during the nights easy. The click pad has rubberized palm rests that makes working a comfortable experience.

The Extreme has an 8GB of Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM that makes it extremely fast. When it comes to storage, the 500GB SATA II hard drive is –cell enough to store all your data and run high-end games. It also has an 8x Super-Multi drive. The 8 cell battery ensures that the laptop runs for long. The 2 megapixel camera lets you get in touch with your loved ones face to face. The Extreme offers a number of connectivity options that include Bluetooth, WI-FI, and Ethernet. The Extreme has 5 USB ports that include one USB 3.0 port too and a HDMI port. It also has a Display Port outs that enables you to connect it to other device like a projector. Apart from that, it has a memory card reader and fingerprint lock.

The dimensions of the laptop are 16.5 x 11.54 x 1.55-1.96 inches. The weight of Extreme can be a big turn-off if you are looking for something light. It weighs around 3.9 kg or 8.6 lbs. that makes it big and bulky. One cannot carry it around in their backpacks like the other laptops. However, with such specifications and performance one can compromise a little with the design. Also, one gets a Targus clamshell case with the laptop from System76 and that too for free.
