The Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TX are due to get an update to Android 4.0.4 which is their latest version of Ice Cream Sandwich. They will be rolling out the updates from this week across all of their global markets and it has a selection of new functions and features, which will enhance their users’ ability to make full use of their devices.
The upgrades include screen mirroring, increased battery capability and HD voice. The screen mirroring function will allow users to be able to send the display from their phone to their HD TV using WiFi Miracast if they are watching videos or playing games. This means that they will be able to take advantage of the big screen functions but still use their phone to control it. This is especially useful if they play a lot of games on their phone or want to watch videos online or movies as the screen size can make a huge difference to their viewing.
Another main change is the fact that when the phone is on standby mode, it will now have four times the battery life as it will disable more functions once it has been in sleep mode for a while. This will not affect the phones ability to receive calls or texts and it will go back to normal mode as soon as the screen is touched. This means that if the phone is in standby a lot, it will not drain the battery power so quickly as the apps that tend to run in the background will be halted. The new upgrade also provides HD Voice which will mean that calls are clearer due to the fact that background noise is more effectively filtered out. The media applications also have a few small changes to the way that they look and where they can be viewed from. Movies can be viewed from the dashboard now and the Album app will use the mobile Bravia Engine. The Walkman will have better colors that match the art on the album,
Users will be sent the update and get an alert to tell them they can download it. With the battery saving ability being changed, it is well worth everyone taking advantage of this, even if the other changes will not affect them too much. They will be able to use an over the air update or software to do so. PC Companion or Bridge for Mac are the software choices if this is preferred to the OTA option. It is expected that Europe and Asia will be the first to get this new update, which will be available to all Sony Xperia TX and T owners eventually.
