The Sony Corporation is all set to expand its popular Xperia series as it officially announced two new phones for the same. The phones would be known as the Sony Xperia E and the Xperia E dual and are single and dual SIM phone respectively. The phones will target the mid-range and would be available at a pocket-friendly price. A quick look at its features may give you a feel that the phones are based on Tipo series which was launched recently. According to Calum MacDougall, marketing director of Sony Mobile Communications the new handsets would be an ideal pick who are buying the Xperia series for the very first time or looking for a high end phone with ample features but at an entry level price. Let us have a look at its specs.
The Sony Xperia E has a 3.5” touchscreen with a resolution of 480 X 320 pixels and is powered by a single-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (2.22 GB available to the users). These features may not excite you enough but then the Xperia E version will be shipped with android 4.1 jelly bean version out of the box. However, the dual SIM version will be shipped with android 4.0 ICS and will be upgraded to JB later on. The Xperia E dual will be a GSM+GSM version.
The phones will be 11mm thick and will weigh 115.7 gm. The 1500 mAh battery ensures that your phone runs for long. It offers a 6.3 hour talk time and up to 530 hour stand-by time on a single charge. Both the phones will sport a 3.2 mega pixel camera with features like auto focus. The front cameras are missing in these models. If you feel the internal storage isn’t enough then the presence of a microSD card gives you an option to increase the internal storage up to 32GB which was not possible in a few Xperia handsets before. Sony also offers 50GB of cloud storage on drop box with these handsets for free. Features like HD voice and noise cancellation enhances the sound quality of your phones calls and gives you an unmatched experience. The connectivity options include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS. A 3.5 mm jack is available to connect your earpiece. The media options are expected to be good enough like the other handsets.
There has been no official announcement about the specific dates on which the phones will hit the markets but they are expected to be launched in the first quarter of the year 2013. The Sony Xperia E will be available in three different colors i.e. white, black and pink while the Xperia E Dual will be available only in two colors black and gold. The prices are also unknown at the moment.
