While it first appeared as a bit of released information, Samsung has made it official that the Galaxy Grand ( I9080 ) and Galaxy Grand Duos ( I9082 ) will be released in the first quarter of 2013. The Galaxy Grand Duos will be available first, with the Galaxy Grand coming shortly after. The only difference between the two is that the I9080 will be a single SIM device while the I9082 will be a dual SIM phone. There was a lot of hype when the I9082 was first spotted on the internet and now Samsung has released details letting us get a look at what is to come. The specifications listed below are straight from Samsung’s official release announcement.

Currently there is no definitive price set but speculation is that this will be less expensive than high end devices as it will be a mid level phone.. Even with a 5 inch screen these phones are going to be very slim but still is in the size range that some might call them phablets. It might not be out in time for Christmas but that won’t stop people from placing pre-orders as soon as pricing and availability is announced.
From all appearances these phones will be marketed towards those who can’t justify shelling out the money for a Galaxy Note but still want a great feature packed device. The sacrifice on screen resolution allows Samsung to pack a lot of power into a phone that is affordable enough for average users, while still boasting cutting edge mobile technology.
The Jelly Bean operating system combined with the great features will make this a very powerful product that will have fanboys drooling despite the lower screen resolution. The latest Android takes full advantage of the proximity sensors and front facing camera to add a layer of functionality and security to the device. The dual core processor and high amount of RAM means that two way video calling should be a smooth experience.
As of yet there is no announcement on what carriers will be supported so we are just going to have to be patient.
Stay tuned as we will be publishing more information as it becomes available from Samsung.
