Oppo smartphones are first in two aspects. The Oppo Finder, at 6.65 mm thickness, holds the distinction of being the thinnest smartphone in the world. Oppo Find 5 X990, on the other hand, is cited as the quad core smartphone with the thinnest frame. Now this company is about to achieve another milestone, with the impending release of another Android-powered smartphone – Oppo Find 5.
1. Oppo Finder
The Oppo Finder, which was released in the second half of 2012, is one tough device that is hard to crack, quite literally, that is. Now, it may not be within the range of its uses, but a video demo featuring the Oppo Finder shows how it can be used to hammer down a nail on a wooden plank without suffering a dent or damage on its screen display and back portion. It proves that super-thin devices can still be as tough as they can possibly get.
Searching for the thinnest smartphone in the market is a kin to aiming at a target that is incessantly moving. The distinction of being the slimmest no longer belongs to Droid RAZR Maxx at 7.1 mm, and the Ascend P1, at 6.68 mm thickness, enjoyed that distinction until it was topped by yet another Android-powered smartphone – Oppo Finder – in July of this year, chopping off 0.03 mm to snatch this enviable distinction as the thinnest smartphone, for the time being. It features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that comes with a 960 x 540 screen resolution and is powered by 1.5 GHz dual core processor. The other technical specifications of the device are pretty decent – 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, an 8-megapixel back camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. It comes with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS on board.
2. Oppo Find 5
On the other hand, Oppo Find 5, which is still a prototype, is bound to redefine the standards for cutting edge devices. While there are no official announcements as of yet, there are snippets of information about what we could expect from Oppo Find 5. With its mind-blowing pixel density, this Oppo phablet leads its competition by a wide margin.
For instance, you can clearly see its comparative advantage over the iPhone with a marked difference in pixel density of 115 ppi. Other high-end specifications of the Oppo device include a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, which is bruited to have bested Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3 in a recent benchmark testing, 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory and a 12-MP camera on the back and a 2-MP front camera.
Oppo may not have yet achieved name-recall status, but it clearly brings the competition several notches higher not only when ranged against major players, Apple and Samsung, but also against competition at the home front. With the impending release of Oppo Find 5, it is now a force to reckon with and comes alongside other China-based companies like ZTE, Meizu and Xiaomi.
