Microsoft Surface Mini – Direct Rival to iPad Mini

Not a long ago Microsoft decided that it is high time for them to join the rivalry on the tablet market and therefore a new gadget was released. It went by the name Surface and it definitely shook the interest of many people, not only because of his great design and specifications but because of its OS as well. There are lots of people who don’t enjoy using iOS or Android and are looking for some good alternative, which Microsoft Surface managed to offer.

However, since the success of the device, rumors started appearing on internet stating Microsoft is currently working on “Mini” version of the tablet that will be unveiled during the first quarter of the next year. Is this going to be true or not? We have nothing else to do but wait while in the meantime we can give you some information regarding the supposed specifications.

Starting with the display, Microsoft Surface Mini might be equipped with 7.5” screen (1400×1050 pixels of resolution). If you do the math yourself this means that the PPI is going to be 233, which is great news because it beats most of its rivals from Samsung and Apple in this class. However, we should not miss the fact that by the time the device sees the world, new and better tablets will be released by other manufacturers. After all, the competition is pretty tough and we don’t believe that Apple or Samsung will want to lose the fight for the lead position.

The processor and RAM are unknown for now, but there are rumors stating there will be a couple of variants. Surface Mini is expected to fit in the 400$ price point. Still, many sources believe that the price might be even lower, which will immensely increase people’s interest toward this device. As you know iPad’s Mini can be found for 330$, so Microsoft might want to reconsider their initially supposed price.
