One of the fastest growing industries right now is the tablet market. Manufacturers are releasing various models with prices that are very affordable that consumers with smartphones are also buying tablets. Popular device makers such as Amazon have their Kindle Fire HD that costs $200 while Google has their Nexus 7 that also costs $200.
If the $200 price point is too expensive for you then you will be pleased to know that Gardner will soon be releasing a 6 inch tablet running on Ice Cream Sandwich for less than $100. The GoTab 6 inch tablet is perfect for anyone who just wants a portable device to check on their emails, update their social networks and even read a couple of ebooks.
This tablet already comes with Google Play so you can browse through the thousands of apps available for you to download. There’s also the proprietary Hive app that lets you download ebooks straight to your device.

Initial impressions of this device show that it is solidly built. It’s quite compact and easy to bring along. While most manufacturers are releasing 7 inch models Gardner is breaking this tradition by coming up with a 6 inch one. For its price you get Spartan features which I must admit is quite useful. If you don’t want a fully featured tablet with all the bells and whistles then this one will definitely suit you.
What we didn’t like about Go Tab 6 inch tablet though is the process in exchanging data. With no Bluetooth available transferring files from your PC to the tablet has to be done manually by using the microSD. At a low resolution of only 800×600 pixels you also won’t be able to install any HD games here.
Despite these shortcomings it is still a highly recommended device because of its price point and for its basic features.
The GoTab 6 inch model will be released in the UK this coming October with no news yet if this will be made available globally. We are sure though that it will make its way to the various European countries.
