Galaxy Tab 2 [ 7.0 ] Student Edition Now Upsets The Low End Tablet Market – Specs, Features and Price Revealed

The latest information on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 [ 7.0 ] student edition reflects that this tablet will be available very soon, maybe in a week’s time. The Galaxy Tab 2 [ 7.0 ] is touted as the real competitor to the Nexus 7. However, it will literally upset the market for the Nexus 7, because it comes with a keyboard dock and a USB peripheral connector.

This is a device specifically target at teenagers and young adults who are in school and colleges. Galaxy Tab 2 [ 7.0 ] will have the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which will come pre-installed. As expected, it will also offer very stunning images and videos with its Super AMOLED display. The USB connector will enable you to connect other enhancements to the device such as flash drive. We hope it will also help in charging your phone during emergencies.

On the keyboard, the features are not as great as we would expect. However, it serves well its intended customers. A good thing about it is that, it included special Android buttons, limiting the need to switch back to the touch screen when you are using it. Unfortunately, it relies on the Tab for power, and this could be disappointing for heavy users. Nonetheless, it is a solid-build.

The student edition will sell at $249. It matches the Nexus 7 in hardware, and this is where new buyers will have to go with the Galaxy Tab 2. If it were lesser in hardware, then the competition would win. Only the display is a disappointment at 1024 by 600 pixels. However, the 1 GHz TI OMAP4 dual core processor will give any user the power they need, when using the Tab 2.

For what it lacks on the features, and hardware specs, it compensates on the price front. Hardly anyone will complain when they get the Galaxy Tab 2 student edition because it offers everything and more for less than $300. Maybe it was named ‘student edition’ because of the price point, so that we don’t judge it so harshly against the lively display of the Nexus 7. The timing for the release also points at the student market.

At the end of it all, you may be disappointed with the Wi-Fi connectivity issues, or cursing the touch screen. It’s good to remember, tablets at this price don’t run the Ice Cream Sandwich. This exception needs the right appreciation. Besides, the speedy processor is a killer feature, which alone makes it worthy to buy the Galaxy Tab 2 [ 7.0 ].
