It’s the well-known hacker Geohot, who figured out how to root the Galaxy S4 Active, which by many is considered the rugged twin brother of the regular Galaxy S4. In fact, Geohot, who stuck upon the idea of how to root this device on his way back from the beach, has made provision, so you could directly install the rooting app from the website; he has set up especially for this purpose.
Reports suggest that this app would surely allow you to successfully root the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. After you have successfully rooted your device, installing new ROMs and custom recoveries would become a cakewalk for you. Although we haven’t tried it ourselves, we believe that this rooting app would actually work because Geohot has been right on the money in the past. In fact, legend goes that Geohot was the first hacker to unlock the first iPhone that was ever released.
This ‘Activeroot’ app that Geohot has made available for the Samsung Galaxy Active will root your device on its own. All you have to do is download it and run it, surely there can’t be an easier or a quicker way to root a device. Interestingly, the eagerness to find out a way to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 was so much that a bounty of around $500 was announced for anyone who could do it. Geohot was seemingly unaware of this bounty, but came up with a solution anyway. If the rooting app works, the hacker naturally deserves the $500.
The good news as we mentioned earlier is the fact that once your Samsung Galaxy Active is rooted, you would be able to install a custom ROM on it with relative ease, but it’s always a risk to install custom firmwares and unofficial apps on your device. Please remember that a failure may cause irresolvable issues in your device. Also, with the modification being applied, your device’s warranty may lapse, hence it would be prudent to check your device’s warranty terms & conditions before you move forward.
It is advisable that you back up all the data and files on your device, so you don’t lose any of it should something go wrong during the whole process. Also, remember that this rooting app is specifically meant for the Samsung Galaxy Active, which is why you shouldn’t try to install it on any other device.
