There has never been an interesting time for consumer electronics like today. What can anyone say about the never-ending race of Samsung and Apple? Today, two iconic devices from the two companies are making people so restless. But, on a fair weighing scale, which one of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and the Apple iPad 3 is really the king? Let’s compare their features.
- Starting with the screen of the Galaxy note, we have a 10.1-inch screen that gives you a 1288 by 800 display-pixels. With that size, the user gets a PLS TFT capacitive display. The ppi is 149 for the Galaxy Note. On the other side, you get a 1536 by 2048 resolution, which gives you a ppi of 264 for the iPad 3. Well, I believe the iPad 3 is our first round winner.
- Next, check the storage. With Galaxy Note 10.1-inch you get, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB. For all versions, the MicroSD capacity is up to 32GB. When it comes to the iPad 3, there is no option for a MicroSD card. You remain with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB options. After that, you get to the camera. Here, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1-inch packs a good 2-megapixel camera and another one on the back, slightly better at 3-megapixels. The Apple iPad 3 has a solid 5-megapixel on the back.
- Moving on swiftly, the hardware part is a close call. The Galaxy note has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB RAM. It also supports 4G communication. The iPad 3 on the other hand has a 1GHz dual core, but compensates that with the A5X chipset. This is a quad core GPU that is part of the hardware on the iPad 3.
- Physically, the Note 10.1 is less thick than the iPad 3. On the battery, the Note 10.1 gets 7,000mAh while the iPad 3 gets 11,560mAh, which is almost double. Consequently, the iPad 3 is quite heavy at 652g against 597 for the Galaxy Note. They both score very well on looks, sleek. One other thing to note is that the iPad 3 is power hungry, which means its extra battery capacity is just for the GPU unit. Thus, we expect no winner on battery life.
So, there was an almost draw on battery and hardware. However, the iPad was a clear winner on display and camera. The rest of the features depend on where your loyalty falls !
